You can reach Cramond by bus directly from the city centre or the hostel itself – bus 41 stops right by Argyle Backpackers and takes you to Cramond in about 40 minutes. Cramond Island is a tidal island in the Firth of Forth reached at low tide by a causeway which is a bit shorter than a mile. A notice-board at the landward end of the causeway informs visitors of the times when it is safe to be crossed. Take a look at the Forth Bridge from the causeway, and get some amazing photographs from the promenade.
Our recommendation: Allow yourself time to explore the island as it is larger than it seems, and make sure to note the time to get back before high tide. You don’t want to get stuck in the island! Also, look out for the ice cream truck J
